I offer the unique ability to understand what your brain is doing moment to moment & to use neuroplasticity to help your brain change the way you want, based on my extensive neuroimaging experience, psychological expertise in learning & memory, and neuropsychotherapy expertise.
I uniquely offer integrated therapies that can resolve any mental health difficulty, including attachment, trauma & dissociation. This integrated approach is enhanced by my unique 30+ years of expertise in brain imaging of learning & memory. This gives me the rare ability in psychotherapy to understand the brain mechanisms underlying how your brain wired up & how this wiring can affect you in ways that make life feel distressing. I know how to change this wiring.
I have been a Psychologist & Neuroscientist for over 30 years, and I have been building upon this knowledge to develop my practice as a Counselling Psychologist for about 10 years.
I began my career as a Psychologist and Neuroscientist, including expertise in psychometrics and neuropsychology. I was and still am motivated to understand how people become who they are and how to use this understanding to help people change to fulfil their potential. Inspired by the rapid, precise insights of neuroscience, I came to sense that neuroplasticity, learning and memory can reveal how each individual brain becomes wired up to process experience in its own ways. More important, these processes of learning and memory in the brain also reveal how people can change and become relieved of the burdens of the past to have a better life now.
I know in-depth how the brain changes from over 30 years as a neuroscientist using a variety of brain imaging methods to reveal the mechanisms of neuroplasticity, learning and memory in the human brain. Based on my research into the brain processes for learning and memory, I developed the Multi-State Interactive Model of Visual Cognition. Now, I know what these learning and memory mechanisms are and how to harness them to help people change. As a practitioner psychologist, I am passionate about using my expertise and skills to help you earn how to fulfill the potential of all aspects of who they are.
Originally from the USA, I have lived and worked in the UK for about 15 years. I have a multiracial background and diverse international experience and have travelled widely. I am an open, welcoming, compassionate person who loves to connect with people from all walks of life. This diverse background enables me to connect easily to you as the unique person you are.
My personal & professional experiences and research have enabled me to develop a comprehensive understanding of you as a human being and how best to help you develop all aspects of who you are to fulfill your potential as a whole person.
I am passionate about the roles of attachment, stress, threat & trauma, biologically based neurodiversity (e.g., sensitive temperament, autism) in the brain and the role of experience and the environment in mental health and wellbeing. In my view, this explains how your brain became wired up into who you are today. And the neuroplasticity, learning and memory processes that contributed to this, in which I have over 30 years expertise, also reveal the roadmap for how to change to reach your potential and goals for therapy. The therapies that I integrate have been carefully selected based on the latest neuroscience and therapeutic evidence to help you learn to fulfill the potential of all aspects of who you are. Moreover, these therapies produce lasting changes in the gentlest and fastest ways available now.
